What You Need to Do to Go to Heaven
(Yes, You Can Know With Certainty That You Will Go to
Heaven)
A Christian is not simply somebody who lives a
good life, helps others and gives to the poor. A Christian by definition
is "Christ-like". Christians are not perfect, and they are not
without sin; however, they do strive to live as God wishes according to His word
and keep His commandments..
Many people say, "I'll go to heaven; I'm a good person and I've lived a good
life." Unfortunately, that's not what the bible teaches us.
God has a plan
for you !
God loves you, and it is His desire
that you spend eternity with Him in Heaven.
The Lord is not slack
concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to
us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance (2Peter 3:9).
There is nothing that you can do to earn your
way into Heaven though, it is only by God's grace that we receive eternal
life.
For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man
should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
The Bible tells us that no one measures up to God's
standards. No one deserves God's gift of eternal life. We have all come short of
what God demands.
For all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God; (Romans 3:23).
God requires that we be without sin to enter into
Heaven.
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not
inherit the kingdom of God... (1Corinthians 6:9).
The Bible tells us that there are consequences to our
sin. The consequences are death, eternal separation from God.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the
abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and
all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and
brimstone: which is the second death, (Revelation 21:8).
God is a just God, He will not allow the guilty to go
unpunished.
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of
the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it
shall die (Ezekiel 18:4).
So we are all faced with a problem. We desire to go to
Heaven, but God will only allow those without sin to enter Heaven, and we all
have sinned...
But there is GOOD
NEWS!
You do not have to die and go to Hell. There is a
solution to your sin problem. You can be saved from Hell. You can receive God's
gift of eternal life by repenting from your sins, (turning away) and believing
in His son Jesus Christ.
For God so loved the world, that he gave
his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
have everlasting life (John 3:16).
Believing in Jesus is not just believing in the facts
though, it is trusting in Jesus and what he did to pay for your sins.
It
is necessary that you receive Jesus as your savior, and make him the Lord of you
life. You must confess Jesus with your mouth, and believe in him in your heart
to receive eternal life. You must call upon the power of Jesus to save you from
your sin.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the
Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:9,13).
God has a plan for you. It is for you to be saved. God
wants you to be in Heaven with Him. God wants you to receive His gift of eternal
life. This gift can only be received through His son Jesus Christ.
Jesus saith ... I am the way, the truth,
and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).
God will not force you to go to Heaven however. You can
rebel against His plan for you. You can resist His Holy Spirit. You can choose
not to believe the Bible, but beware.
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand
before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is
the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were
written in the books, according to their works. And whosoever was not found
written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire (Revelation
20:12,15).
No person can stand before a Holy God justified in
themselves. Those people who choose not to trust Jesus to save them from their
sins will spend an eternity in Hell, in a lake of fire.
You can receive God's gift of eternal life right now
through Jesus Christ. Ask Him for this gift right now. You need only repent
(turn away), from the sins in your life, and trust Jesus to save you from you
sins. You can go to God in prayer right now!
HERE IS A SUGGESTED
PRAYER:
"Lord Jesus Christ, I know that I am a sinner and
do not deserve eternal life, but I believe you died and rose from the grave to
purchase a place in Heaven for me. Take control of my life, forgive me of my
sins, and save me. I repent of my sins, and I now place my trust in you
alone for my salvation. I accept your free gift of eternal life.
Amen."
You should understand that just saying a prayer will not
save you. But if by saying this prayer you have just repented (turned away) from
your sins, and placed your trust in Jesus Christ to save you from your sins,
then you have just received God's gift of eternal life. You are now a child of
God forever! Nothing can ever change that.
Here is what Jesus says to those who trust in him for
their eternal life:
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me hath everlasting life, (John 6:47).
